You will be driving in a 50kph zone on a two-way road with a 90-degree turn at an intersection that has traffic signals.<\/p>\n<h2>Driver actions<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Check all the mirrors<\/li>\n<li>Check your blind spot for traffic by looking over your shoulder<\/li>\n<li>Indicate right for at least three seconds before starting to turn<\/li>\n<li>Position your car to the left of the centre line or (if the road splits into two lanes at the intersection) the right lane<\/li>\n<li>Scan the intersection for hazards<\/li>\n<li>Slow the vehicle\u00a0down before the intersection using your brakes and gears<\/li>\n<li>If the signal is green, turn the corner if it\u2019s safe to do so \u2013 look through the corner so you can see what\u2019s happening ahead of you<\/li>\n<li>If the signal is red or yellow, stop and wait behind the line<\/li>\n<li>When turning the corner keep the car in the correct position, using appropriate lanes and with an appropriate speed<\/li>\n<li>Check the mirrors once you\u2019ve completed the turn<\/li>\n<li>Accelerate to an appropriate speed after completing the turn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Perform the tasks at least three times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.drivingtests.co.nz\/resources\/16-turning-right-at-a-give-way-sign\/\">Previous (16)<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drivingtests.co.nz\/resources\/18-three-point-turn\/\">Next (18)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The aim of this lesson is to legally and safely turn right at an intersection with traffic signals.
