Oil is forced through a sealed system of pumps, cylinders and hoses. For example, to raise the load, oil pressure is diverted to the cylinder that lifts the boom. The size of the pumps determines how much lifting force the crane will have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Power is provided to the pumps using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drivingtests.co.nz\/resources\/whats-power-take-off-pto-on-a-truck\/\">power take-off or PTO<\/a>. This diverts power from the truck\u2019s running engine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an operator, you need to be familiar with the manufacturer\u2019s instructions, your company\u2019s procedures, the crane safety manual and the <a href=\"https:\/\/worksafe.govt.nz\/topic-and-industry\/cranes\/\">approved code of practice for cranes<\/a>, or ACOP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How often must a truck loader crane be inspected and certified?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cranes must be recertified annually and the inspection certificate must be available in the cab of the truck?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A truck loader crane, truck-mounted crane, HIAB or &#8216;crane truck&#8217; is a crane that is mounted to a truck, either just behind the cab or just behind the deck.
