At the end of a shift, a pallet jack operator should make sure the pallet jack is placed in a safe area. If it’s an electric walkie, keys should be stored in a safe place. They can be a hazard if they’re in a place which causes an obstruction, so let’s look at where you shouldn’t leave one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blocking a doorway, including emergency exits<\/li>
Blocking a gate<\/li>
Fully or partially blocking a passageway<\/li>
On a ramp or incline<\/li>
Where other vehicles need to drive around it or might come into contact with it (for example, next to rubbish bins)<\/li>
Next to a first aid station<\/li>
Next to a heat source<\/li>
In a dark area where it might not be easily seen<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Where can you park it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
In a charging area while it’s being charged<\/li>
In a designated area of the warehouse that is marked or (preferably) separated by some kind of barrier<\/li>
With the forks in a pallet so that they are not a trip hazard, and the handle stored vertically<\/li>
Indoors – it’s better for maintaining it<\/li>
Where someone on the following shift will know where to find it<\/li>
In a place agreed by management<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\nA dedicated area for electric pallet jacks to be parked, charged and maintained.
