Spotter: guiding reversing vehicles

Work with a driver or operator to safely reposition or move a vehicle

Most people who work around vehicles will, at one time or another, be required to help someone reverse, or manoeuvre into or out of a tight spot. In places like busy construction sites or in yards where materials are being delivered or taken, this could happen multiple times during the day.

Who is this course for?

  • Trades and construction workers
  • Drivers
  • Machine operators and loaders (forklift, excavator, etc)
  • Warehouse team
  • Yard team
  • Agricultural workers
  • Supervisors

Having a shared language for guiding vehicles, a knowledge of blind spots, and an understanding from the driver's perspective reduces the risk of a collision that could cause human or material damage. It also makes operations quicker and less frustrating.

  • What vehicle types are covered?

Rigid and combination trucks, utes, construction equipment (bulldozers, graders, wheel loaders, backhoes, road rollers, excavators, dump trucks, articulated dump trucks, paving machines), materials handling equipment (forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, boom lifts), buses and coaches, mobile cranes, and agricultural equipment (harvesters, tractors)
