Mezzanine decks or mezzanine floors are installed in trucks and trailers to increase the load capacity when carrying freight that can't be stacked. Installing and removing a mezz deck requires careful operation with a forklift, the right sequence of tasks, and knowledge of load security to complete the job.
Mistakes can cause injuries and even death, so this course focuses on how to minimise those risks and get that mezz deck in or out quickly but safely.
The online course is the most convenient way of learning the theory.
Experienced trainers and the yard team from TR Driver Training and TR Group, demonstrate everything your team members need to get the right equipment, set up the truck or trailer and install or remove the mezz deck.
The course is divided into easy-to-follow modules that take just a few minutes each. Trainees have access to the course materials for six months so they can go back and repeat modules as required.
A certificate of achievement is created on successful completion of the course.
Do I need to do this training? WorkSafe and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 require you to give training, supervision, information and ongoing monitoring for team members that perform tasks with a risk of injury or death. A mezz deck is heavy and cumbersome, so training in how to install and remove them is required.
How long is the certificate valid for? This sort of training is usually refreshed every 3 years.
Does this course include a practical assessment with a trainer? No, none is required. However, the PCBU is responsible for ensuring that the team member installing or removing the deck has been inducted and understands how to use the forklift.
Are there any relevant NZQA unit standards? There are no unit standards for this task.
Set up is free whether you are purchasing one course licence or a hundred course licences.
