Get qualified to operate a forklift or electric pallet jack
Our forklift training courses give individuals and employers everything needed to operate powered industrial lift trucks safely, confidently and in compliance with legal requirements. Whether you’re new to forklift operation or refreshing existing skills, these courses cover essential theory, practical handling techniques, hazard awareness, and the recognised assessments.
Unit standards and operators' certificates
Training is available for Unit Standard 10851 (the equivalent of the operator's certificate), and F endorsement US18496.
There are also operator's certificates for forklift (also called OSH certificate) and walkie stacker/powered pallet jack.
Competency for attachments and more
For operators changing LPG bottles, training is required under hazardous substances legislation.
For operators using a mounted safety cage ("man cage"), training is required under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and the Approved Code of Practice.
For operators who are installing and deinstalling mezz decks, important safety considerations must be followed.
For operators who also do manual work such as lifting boxes on and off racking or the forks, manual handling training is required under the HSWA2015.
Completing a forklift course helps you meet WorkSafe NZ and NZTA standards, giving you the competency certificate you need to work in warehouses, construction sites, logistics centres and other workplaces where material handling equipment is used. The operator’s certificate is valid for three years, and adding an F endorsement means you’re legally able to drive a forklift on public roads as part of your job.
Forklift training is more than just ticking a box, it’s about building skills that reduce workplace incidents, improve productivity, and strengthen your resume. Whether you’re preparing for your first forklift role or updating your qualification, our nationwide training options make it easy to learn at your own pace.
