Forklift Mounted Safety Platform (Man Cage / Personnel Cage)

Attach, use and operate a mounted safety platform or "man cage", as per the ACOP

A mounted safety platform (also known as a man cage, work platform or personnel platform) is attached to the forks and provides a safe way to lift people if you don't have a scissor lift.

Training is required both for the forklift operator and the person in the safety platform, and this course covers both.

You'll learn how to:

  • Safely connect the platform to the forklift
  • Operate the forklift with the platform
  • Check the platform is OK by conducting a pre-operation check
  • Calculate load ratings and capacities
  • Put on a harness and connect it to the cage
  • Handle emergency procedures.

This is the perfect course for companies that have one or more forklift safety cages and need to ensure that their team is trained in its use.

  • Who is this forklift safety platform training for?

    • Forklift operators
    • Supervisors
    • Workers who are lifted in a safety platform

Note that a person in the safety platform may also need to do working at heights training if the scope of work extends outside the platform.

  • What our clients say

"Booked the course online, did the course not long after and then the certificate was sent through, all in less than 2 hours without leaving the office. The course was easy to follow, very clear instructions, broken down to small modules. You answer a set of questions after each one and retest if you don't get them all correct. Highly recommend. Will do more of these courses.
Great price, great value." Rochelle - Mitre 10 MEGA Te Awamutu
