What crane qualifications do you need?

Truck loader crane, gantry crane and sideloader each need their own operator's certificate; unit standards are optional. The theory overlaps but the machines don't, so operators running more than one type need a certificate for each. Sling regular loads (unit standard 30072) covers rigging and load attachment, and is usually required alongside a crane certificate. If your operators lift loads but don't operate the crane, the slinging course on its own may be what you need (e.g. for dogman).
