Turning left at traffic lights

You can only turn left in these circumstances:

  • You have a green arrow to the left
  • You have a green traffic signal and no red arrow to the left
  • You have a filter lane with a give way or stop sign that allows you to turn without going through the traffic lights
  • There are no emergency services vehicles passing through the intersection
  • There are no pedestrians crossing that are blocking your way
  • There is enough room for you to turn without blocking the intersection or having to stop across a pedestrian crossing
  • It's safe to do so.
