Yellow flashing traffic signals

If there are one or more yellow flashing lights at traffic signals the lights are faulty.

When the lights are faulty use the give way rules to determine who goes first. Use caution, though, and assume that other drivers might not know the rules.

The basic give way rules are:

  • Give way to vehicles coming straight ahead if you are turning
  • Give way to vehicles turning left if you are turning right
  • Give way to the right on roundabouts
