Can you put a soundbar in your car?

Soundbars are popular these days mostly because of their portability and the sound quality they can provide. However, they are mostly used in a home theatre setup in the living room. Some soundbars even have subwoofers of their own, which adds another piece of speaker to setup.

You might have seen a soundbar in someone’s home, or maybe you’re familiar with this device because you also use it to improve your TV’s sound. Inside a soundbar, there are several speakers arranged together to amplify the sound and maintain its quality.

But the question is, what exactly are the functions of a soundbar? And can you put one in your car?

Soundbar features:

  • An inbuilt HDMI port
  • WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Some are capable of app control
  • Google Assistant and Alexa models can be useful
  • Can have built-in or external subwoofers for bass
  • Audio technology provides an immersive sound experience
  • Can be placed anywhere because of wireless setup, as long as there’s power available

What are soundbars for?

A soundbar is a complete media bar that comes in variable sizes, feature sets, and price ranges. It is mostly considered a less expensive all in one sound system because it typically has advanced audio technology and even smart features in one device.

They are generally used in rooms as theatre systems and have a high demand as a substitute for the old generation speakers that required a lot of space. Soundbars have made our lives much easier by simplifying the setup while not digging a hole in our pocket. Today’s soundbars are cheaper than the full-on speakers we used to have. Plus, since you have everything in one unit, there’s not that many wires compared to other speakers.

When it comes to car audio, car manufacturers like to cut costs wherever they can, and the sound system quality sees the worst of it. So, you end up with ordinary speakers that don’t even have a good bass. In this case, you can either overhaul the entire sound system of your car with a new and expensive one, or you can improve your existing one with a soundbar. A car is like a closed room when the windows are rolled up, thus making it a perfect fit for the immersive quality a soundbar provides.

A soundbar has external or internal subwoofers so the bass problem is also solved. You don’t have to buy a separate subwoofer, and you know that costs money as well.

Can you put a soundbar in your car?

The answer is a resounding YES! You can put a soundbar in your car even if it’s primarily a home device. You can have it installed in the back of the seat, under the seat, in the boot, on the parcel shelf, or wherever else convenient. As long as you can connect it to a power outlet and secure it from moving around, you’re fine.

Soundbars are a price-friendly substitute for car sound systems if you think you need to buy one. If space is your concern, many soundbars like the Sonos Beam, Sonos Arc, and Bose Solo 5 are compact and versatile products that are ideal for car use. They have deep bass and even come with voice controls even at a compact size.
